Acer Recalls Substandard Laptop Computers

October 14, 2009 | Print | Email Email | Comments | Category: Consumer

Taiwan based computer manufacturer Acer is now issuing a global recall, including China, for five types of laptop computers which have overheating problems.

The laptops involved are Aspire AS3410, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ, and AS3810TZG. The laptops in question were all made before September 15, 2009. Acer says that the microphone cable of the computers may overheat when extreme pressure is applied repeatedly to the left palm rest and this may lead to a malfunction.

Consumers can log onto Acer's official website and input the serial number or SNID of their laptop to check whether their computer is on the recall list.

I sent my Acer Aspire One Netbook for warranty service 10/2009 when it stopped working and had "brown stains" around the battery. Came back with a "new battery pack, thermal regulator, power supply, and hard drive" Its still not working properly (touchpad mouse, and wireless lan are not working)
      Another recall in the works???
