The municipal government of Guangzhou and China Telecom Guangdong have signed an agreement to jointly establish the 800M Digital Trunking Network, an emergency communication command and dispatch system in Guangzhou.
Under the agreement, this project will be invested by China Telecom and will be rented by the government. China Telecom Guangdong will be responsible for the construction and operation of the system. On the completion of this project, it will be included in the related departments and units of Guangzhou's citywide emergency command system.
According to China Telecom Guangdong, this project is expected to be completed before May 2010, serving the 16th Asian Games held in Guangzhou from November 12 to 27, 2010. In addition, with the completion of the 800M Digital Trunking Network, Guangzhou will be the second Chinese city that owns a large-scale digital trunk network, following Beijing.
China Telecom Guangdong said, with the approach of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, a digital trunk network that can cover the entire Greater Guangzhou area becomes a necessity. This new system will not only meet the emergency communication command and dispatch needs in sectors such as public security, firefighting, municipal administration, first aid, and civil aviation, but also can provide help in city video surveillance and disaster monitoring and warnings.
