Chinese Fund Company Launches Environmental Program

Fortis Haitong Investment Management, a Chinese fund company, recently officially launched an environmental program "Green and Hope" that aims to reduce carbon emissions, and to arouse public awareness including that of fund holders on environmental protection.

This is said to be made up of a series of initiatives featuring environmental protection.

Since mid August, Fortis Haitong has commenced an online environmental auction jointly with Hexun.com. The auction will last for eight weeks, and there are no limits for base prices. The auction results will be announced on the website. All the funds raised by the auction will be presented the international environmental organization Roots & Shoots.

Fortis Haitong Investment Management is one the first Sino-foreign joint venture fund management companies, and was founded in April 2003. At the opening ceremony of Green and Hope Tian Rencan, the president of Fortis Haitong stated that besides, bringing a mature foreign investment philosophy to China the company is also committed to introducing good corporate citizenship and environmental protection to its own operations and management.
