Holiday Arrangements For Mid-autumn Festival In China

September 1, 2008

Business & Society

According to China's General Office of the State Council, from September 13 to 15 will be Mid-autumn Festival holidays.

This is the first Mid-autumn Festival holiday on the Chinese mainland since the Chinese Government has decided it should be a statutory holiday.

Labor departments warned that employment units should pay three times the usual wages for employees who work on September 14 (Sunday). For those who work on September 13 and 15, employment units should arrange compensation leave instead of overtime payment. Two times the usual wages should be paid to employees if there is no compensation leave.

Besides, employees should be aware the base for calculating overtime payment is not necessarily the total wage.
