The PepsiCo Foundation and Sichuan PepsiCo-Cola Beverage have donated CNY5 million each for the construction of an earthquake-proof school in Beichuan County, Sichuan.

The donation ceremony was held in Chengdu, Sichuan. Representatives from the Sichuan government and PepsiCo attended the ceremony.

Indra Nooyi, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, stated at the donation ceremony that PepsiCo's staff were highly concerned about the natural disaster in Sichuan, and PepsiCo is thinking of contributing more. She also expressed her respect to the Chinese people for the humanitarian care and the great national spirit in the earthquake relief work.

Details of the earthquake-proof school are subject to detailed discussion between PepsiCo Foundation and Sichuan PepsiCo-Cola. It is expected to be a landmark building for both teaching and, if necessary, earthquake relief.
