The People's Insurance Company of China has recently published its corporate social responsibility report 2008, which is the second CSR report the company has produced.
The report stated that 2008 was an extremely unusual year for PICC as it encountered a range of challenges and advanced its corporate value. The reported summarizes PICC's responsibility in eight aspects: using the insurance risk transfer mechanisms and social mutual help and management mechanisms to protect economic development and promote social harmony; pushing forward insurance development strategy and improving the insurance service system in rural areas; devoting itself to disaster relief and offering green channels for compensation; promoting product innovation and meeting customers' demands for various financial services; providing innovative medical insurance services as a partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games; playing a key role in leading the corporate responsibility development of the insurance industry; caring for employees and vigorously promoting the building of a harmonious enterprise and achieving the development of both employees and businesses; carrying out various charity activities to make contribution to the society.
This year is the 60th anniversary of PICC and the company said that it would make new contributions to the construction of a harmonious society by fulfilling its social responsibilities as a good corporate citizen.
