Guangzhou Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau has listed 895 diesel-powered buses for emission of black smoke among the city's bus routes.

It is understood that these buses cover more than 73 routes, accounting for up to one-tenth of the total number of buses in the city.

Li Zhuo, the director of Automobile Pollution Control Division of GMEPB, said that these buses had been the subject of the most complaints and as the next step, they would take action regarding each of the buses that had been complained about and ask the operators to bring them up to standard immediately.

In addition, Guangzhou will use LPG as a cleaner fuel for more than 9,000 buses to help solve problem of black smoke before the 2010 Asian Games.
