Macau To Invest CNY120 Million To Rebuild Museums In Sichuan

It is learned from the Sichuan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office that Sichuan has signed cooperation agreements with Macau Foundation and the foundation will aid in the reconstruction of the Beichuan Qiang Folk Museum in Mianyang city and Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan city in Sichuan.

It is said that Macau Foundation will invest about CNY120 million on the rebuilding of the Sanxingdui Museum to help protect cultural relics and remains in an effective manner. Upon completion, the museum will be one of the nation's most advanced in the protection of relics and will integrate the exhibition of archaeological sites and technology with the display of the historical environment.

In addition, Macau Foundation will provide CNY85.88 million towards the reconstruction of Beichuan Qiang Folk Museum, which includes the construction of an exhibition area of 5,500 square meters, a storage area of 600 square meters, a research and management area of 600 square meters and a reception area of 1,000 square meters, together with affiliated facilities.

The project aims to save and pass on Qiang culture and tradition; protect Qiang folk heritage; and make Beichuan Qiang Folk Museum a national center for the display, transmission, and research on Qiang cultural heritage.
