News from Wuhan Municipal Department of Industry and Commerce is that a food safety credit rating system is being extensively promoted in Wuhan.

It is understood that the food safety and supervision credit rating system in Wuhan originated from the Huangpi area of the city.

According to Zhou Xiangbiao, the deputy director of Huangpi Industrial and Commercial Department, the credit rating system, which features four stars as the highest rating, will be widely adopted by food service providers this coming year. Food service providers who perform well in one year will be automatically upgraded to four stars in the following year, while those that have been identified with problems during inspections or have been the subject of complaints by consumers will be automatically downgraded.
