The Shenzhen Municipal Federation of Trade Unions has published the investigation results of the suicide incidents at Foxconn.

According reports in local media, Wang Tongxin, the vice chairman of SMFTU, stated the immediate investigations conducted by SMFTU found that Foxconn had not breached any laws in the process and it had adopted necessary and timely measures after the incidents happened. However, Wang added that the incidents reflected the loopholes in the company's management system.

Wang said that Foxconn needs to learn lessons from the incidents and set up a humanitarian care system for its employees, most of who were born in the 1980s and 1990s. Wang said employees at this age have a strong desire to change the existing management mode, corporate rules, and operation methods, so Foxconn should make proper adjustments and offer the guidance necessary for their education and mental development.

It is learned that while doing this remedial work, Foxconn reviewed its management system and took measures to improve employee management. It set up a system for reporting any abnormal behavior by employees, launched hotlines to deal with the protection of workers rights and for employees to seek help, in addition to building more cultural and sports venues.

Wang said that the trade union at Foxconn should improve its role in airing the voice of the employees and do more work on the democratic management of the company.

Since late January 2010, six Foxconn workers have jumped from high buildings with the intention of committing suicide, four were killed and two were seriously injured.
