The electronics company Garmin Ltd. is recalling around 10,000 Nuvi personal GPS navigation devices in China, as part of its recently global recall of 1.25 million GSP devices.

The company said in a statement that the recall involved following models: Nuvi 200W, 250W, 260W, and nuvi 7xx, where xx is a two-digit number.

The recall, the first of its kind in mainland China, was due to a potential fire hazard from overheating batteries, which are from an unnamed third-party supplier.

Consumers can go to the company's website and input the serial number of their GPS device to find out if it is subject to recall.
