China Mobile Nets 53 Suppliers In Green Action Plan

China Mobile Limited, the country's largest telecom operator, has announced that it has signed strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding on a "Green Action Plan" with 53 major suppliers around the world, driving the industry towards energy conservation and emission reduction.

In 2007, China Mobile launched its "Green Action Plan", focusing on energy-saving, land and materials, cost-savings, recycling of waste, and environmental protection, with the aim of ensuring a 40% drop in electricity consumption in 2010, compared with with of 2005.

China Mobile expects it will save about 82 billion kWh of power in 2010, with a reduction of 6.94 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
