According to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Company will recall 24,136 Fabia sedans in mainland China.

The quality watchdog said in a statement that the recall, which will began on September 30, 2010, involved 1.4-liter Fabia cars produced between August 6, 2008 and July 12, 2010.

The recall is due to a flawed engine control unit, which could cause engines to stall in extreme situations.
