China Unicom has decided to present CNY360 for each academic year to each college student from the 45 counties or towns affected by the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan.

The number of fresh students this year is about 56,000, which means China Unicom will pay a bill of CNY80 million for their four-year free cellphone services.

This is called U-Power Love Plan helping fresh college students keep in touch wit their families during their college life. As long as students take their college entrance test admission tickets, college admission notices, and ID cards along to a China Unicom Business Hall before October 31, 2008, they will get a free U-Power card and enjoy the plan.

China Unicom says till now it has donated money and communication facilities worth CNY200 million, of which CNY40 million is in cash.
