The Board of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd. has established a Corporate Social Responsibility committee chaired by the chief executive to oversee the further development of CSR within the company, and has retained the Business Environment Council as its CSR consultant.

In April 2008, the BEC was commissioned to conduct a review of HKEx's CSR measures and make a green audit of its operations to identify areas where HKEx could improve its existing operations in relation to their environmental and social impact, and to suggest additional CSR initiatives for HKEx's consideration.

The HKEx Board has stated that it is supportive of the recommendations in the BEC's review report on further enhancing HKEx's CSR measures and developing appropriate sustainable CSR practices. The Board believes that further development of HKEx's CSR would help promote the company's good corporate citizenship and increase its awareness of the importance of CSR.
