Bayer CropScience has signed a memorandum of understanding on technological cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to work together on agricultural research, seeking ways for the development of agricultural products and global marketing.

Bayer CropScience and CAAS signed the agreement in Belgium and said they will initiate programs covering plant cultivation, genetics and seed production using advanced technology. Bayer CropScience will improve cooperation with CAAS and its subsidiary research institutions to broaden its business and offer better services to China's agriculture.

"By combining both parties' strengths, CAAS and Bayer CropScience will jointly develop advanced technologies, that will improve farming productivity and enhance the quality of agriculture produce," stated Dr. Joachim Schneider, Head of the BioScience Business Unit at Bayer CropScience. Through this cooperation, Bayer CropScience will further expand its seeds and traits business in China in accordance with the long-term plan for sustainable development of Chinese agriculture, he added.
