According to reports in Taiwanese media, Microsoft will cut more than 300 jobs in mainland China and over 10 jobs in Taiwan in the second round of its staff reductions.
Taiwan's Electronic Times quoted an unnamed insider as saying that the second round of staff reduction of Microsoft was formally started last week, and over 300 employees in Chinese mainland and more than 10 from Taiwan would be affected, this also includes some management personnel of the company.
Zhang Yiyi, a public relations representative from Microsoft Taiwan, has confirmed that the company made personnel change last week, but denied that these were staff cuts. Zhang said that the adjustment on human resource this time was nothing to do with the seniority and performance of the individuals involved. Zhang refused to disclose the detailed number of employees to be cut in Taiwan.
It is understood that most of the employees cut by Microsoft are from the company's MCS, EPG and Windows Live departments, and that several of these have worked for years in Microsoft and are senior managers of the company.
