A document released by the United States Justice Department shows that California-based Control Components Inc. has been involved in bribery in over 30 countries, including China.

According to the Justice Department, between 2003 and 2007 CCI was involved in about 236 bribery cases in more than 30 countries, making a profit of about USD46.5 million. The Chinese oil giants PetroChina Company and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, as well as four other Chinese companies, Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation, Guohua Energy Investment Company, China Oil Materials and Equipment Company, and Dongfang Electric Corporation, also appeared on the CCI bribery list.

So far, CCI has admitted to the cases listed by the Justice Department and has agreed to pay a fine of USD18.2 million, but there have been no comments from the Chinese companies implicated in the bribery case.

Previously, American self-adhesive manufacturer Avery Dennison admitted that it had bribed Chinese officials by offering them commissions, gifts and travel service.
