According to the website of China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, an employment injury prevention program has been initiated on a trial basis in 12 cities and counties of the three Chinese provinces of Henan, Guangdong, and Hainan.

The 12 cities and counties are Zhenghzou, Luoyang, Anyang, and Sanmenxia in Henan; Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Dongguan in Guangdong; and Haikou, Changjiang county, and Zhanzhou in Hainan.

So far, the ministry has issued a circular which asks the three provinces carry out the pilot program this year and next year according to their real situations. The circular states that the cities in question should standardize the use of a work-related injury prevention fund, fix a reasonable allocation for the work-related injury prevention fund, regulate the management and use of the fund, and explore a way on supervising the use of the fund, as well as working out an effective coordination mechanism.

The circular says that the establishment and improvement of work-related injury prevention, work-related injury compensation and work-related injury recovery is an important part of employment injury insurance and a must for building a harmonious society.
