According to reports in the Nanfang Daily, three popular drinks made by Nongfu Spring and Uni-President, two major beverage producers in China, have been found to contain excessive levels of the toxic chemical arsenic.
The three drinks are reported to be: 500ml bottles of Nongfu Guoyuan 30% Mixed Fruit and Vegetable made by Nongfu Spring Guangdong Wanlvhu Company with a production date of June 27, 2009; 445ml bottles of Water Soluble C100 Grapefruit Juice Beverage made by the same company with a production date of August 16, 2009; and 250ml bottles of Peach Juice made by Uni-President (China) Investment Company with a production date of August 22, 2009.
The three are reported to contain excessive levels of the poisonous chemical, arsenic.
So far, Nongfu Spring has responded and said that it had not received any official report of the test results, so there is no way for it to verify the news. Uni-President has not made any comment on the report.
The three drinks are still available on the market as the retailers have not received a notice to withdraw them.
