According to the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Industry and Commerce, the Japan-based automobile manufacturer Toyota has been selling uncertified automobile parts in China.

It is reported that on March 18, 2010 the Yiwu Bureau of Industry and Commerce, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Industry and Commerce, identified about 1,700 items of Toyota-branded car components in two 4S stores belonging to FAW Toyota Motor Sales Company in Yiwu, Zhejiang province. These products, which were reportedly supplied directly by Toyota, did not have a quality certificate or a product test report issued by an authorized department.

A representative from the Yiwu Bureau of Industry and Commerce said that by selling these products Toyota had violated the relevant rules including the Product Quality Law of the People's Republic of China, Special Rules of the State Council on Strengthening the Supervision and Management of the Safety of Food and Other Products, and Zhejiang's Anti Unfair Competition Rule.

The Yiwu Bureau of Industry and Commerce has placed the case on file for investigation and prosecution.

In mid-March 2010, the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Industry and Commerce initiated a special campaign to regulate sales of automobiles in the province. During the campaign, they found that some 4S stores in the province were involved in high-pressure selling, price fraud, business bribery, misleading advertising and selling uncertified parts.
