According to China's quality watchdog, BMW China Automotive Trading Limited is recalling 5,308 imported BMW 5 series GT cars.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that the recall is due to a fuel tank problem.

The recall notice from AQSIQ states that the fuel tank defect could cause the engine to stall without warning.

BMW says it will offer free inspections to the owners of the affected cars.
