According to Wan Gang, China's minister of science and technology, China's output of electric cars will hit one million by 2020.

The Ministry of Science and Technology says that by the end of 2010, 20,000 new energy cars will be used for public transportation and another 150,000 will be used in the labor market. A draft plan, which will be promulgated by early 2011, shows that the Chinese government will invest more than CNY100 billion to subsidize its fledgling green vehicle industry.

China is already the world's largest producer and consumer of vehicles.
