Beijing Chaoyang District Court has accepted a lawsuit filed against Beijing KFC and its Yinghua Dongjie Store by a Chinese consumer surnamed Yang.
Local media reports that Ms. Yang says she bought a food set worth CNY24.5 from the KFC Yinghua Dongjie Store in May this year. When she ate the potato chips offered in the set food, she saw some black and silk-like things in the chips, some of which she had consumed. Ms. Yang then made a complaint against KFC to the Chaoyang District Health Department. The latter punished KFC on the spot by fining it CNY1,000 and ordering it to correct the problem immediately.
After failing to reach a compensation agreement with KFC, Ms. Yang sued the latter in court, asking KFC for an apology and payment of CNY8,551.6, for medical expenses and loss of working time.
