Honeywell Signs Energy Conservation MOUs With Chongqing Enterprises

Honeywell and a delegation to the United States consisting of government officials and enterprise representatives from Chongqing have signed two memoranda of understanding on energy saving and emission reduction.

One of the MOUs concerns the cooperation between Honeywell and ChangAn Automobile on micro-turbochargers, which underscores Honeywell's effort to support the Chinese government's call for engine downsizing and more energy efficient and environmentally-friendly engines. The other is an environmental protection project agreement with the Chongqing Chemical Industry Park. Under this agreement, Honeywell will use its online monitoring system to remotely monitor the pollution from CCIP. This furthers a cooperation reached between the parties earlier this year to help CCIP meet pollution control standards. The new MOU has nearly doubled the number of companies participating in the environmental protection initiative.

In addition to the two MOUs, the Chongqing delegation visited Honeywell's Technology Experience in Washington and got a full understanding of the company's advanced technologies on energy efficiency, safety, security, transportation, controls and materials.

Wang Hongju, the mayor of Chongqing, said that Honeywell, as a global leader in energy efficiency and environmental protection technology has been actively participating in Chongqing's economic development and construction and they had deepened their knowledge of Honeywell's long history and advanced technologies through this visit which would enable Chongqing companies to cooperate better with Honeywell on other projects.

Shane Tedjarati, the president and CEO of Honeywell China and India, commented that he was pleased to see that Honeywell's technologies are contributing to the development of the pillar industries and sustainable growth of Chongqing and he hopes to see more cooperation with these local enterprises.
