The Beijing Municipal Labor and Social Security Bureau said that next year it would strengthen its efforts to encourage enterprises to hire the unemployed and various measures would be taken to make the hiring of the unemployed account for more than half of an enterprises' total hiring.

A representative from BMLSSB said that to lower enterprises' labor costs in employing jobless people, the government would offer them subsidies. According to the spokesperson, each enterprise would get about CNY10,000 a year for each unemployed person they hire and they would receive the subsidy for a total period of three to five years.

In addition, eliminating zero employment families would be one of the key tasks of BMLSSB next year. BMLSSB said that companies hiring jobless women over 40 years old, jobless men over 50 years old, disabled people or people living on low social insurance will all receive three to five years' subsidy.

In addition, BMLSSB stressed that jobless people should share the benefits of economic development and this is helpful for reducing pressure on society and for achieving sustainable economic development.

Currently, there are no large scale staff cuts in Beijing. It is expected that with the preferential policy launched, the employment situation of the city will be further improved.
